I’ve been “assigned” to a new dentist recently.
To put it bluntly, he gives me the fucking creeps, but I have no idea why.
Because he gives me the creeps, I’ve scrutinized his behavior, and there is absolutely nothing I can point to that seems unprofessional. All of his physical actions have been above-board. There is always a dental assistant in the room with us, so I’m never left alone with him. He has never sexually harassed me or said anything untoward. He has never looked at me inappropriately.
But he gives me the creeps.
I’m not looking for advice per se. I’d love to hear your ideas on why he would seem creepy when he has done nothing wrong. Have any of you had a similar experience with a medical professional?
And yes, I am listening to my gut. Eventually, I will find another dentist.
Why he seems creepy: because he is creepy. When your instincts are telling you someone is off, listen to them.
I’d find a new dentist sooner than “eventually.”
Also read The Gift of Fear by Gavin DeBecker. We women have solid intuition and sometimes we don’t know why, but we should always listen to our inner voice.
Get away from him ASAP
Listen to your gut here. If he gives you ick then run. There's no reason for you to doubt yourself, even if you didn't notice anything objectively "weird". YOU HAVE THE CREEPS FOR A REASON
Listen to your gut.
Sometimes, when men creep us out despite not doing anything obviously creepy, it's because we are simply not their preferred prey but we still pick up on the danger and depravity this man represents.
When I was a teenager, a man working for the local bank really creeped me out despite never being anything but professional and never doing anything inappropriate. My mother felt the same. Years later, when I had already forgotten about the whole thing, I heard that this man had been caught with child porn of little boys. Now it was obvious: our gut told us he was a predator, but he just didn't consider us prey so he never made any move.
Trust your gut! I was r*ped by a dental assistant that turned out to be a 100% sociopath. The demon got me alone and assaulted me and the police did nothing about it. I got a sense of emptiness coming from him because these beings are soulless. I have a new dental assistant now who is also a creep but less so since I stood up to him since I take no sh*t off any male health professional now..he thought he could call me dude and I shut him down right away and he can't stand me now.
Trust your gut. Find another dentist, prefereably a female one if possible. Better to be safe than sorry.
I think it's come to the point where any man will give us the creeps anymore, simply because they're men. And the fact that they're men is enough of a reason.
