Why is being a GF a responsibility?

I never dated or had interest in dating because relationships were always talked about as if one is trapped in them.

Anywhere you search, it sounds as if the woman has to take the reigns of the relationship and the man can just kick back and have a clown to appease him. It's always the gf has to appear, act, behave, speak a certain way, etc.

It always seems like a one-sided partnership. I've seen it in person too, in my culture (hispanic) the women are the ones doing literally everything. The men just get drunk, half-ass work (let's be real, if they were getting real work done the worlds infrastructure would be solid and not crumbling every few days) and eat food. The wives and gf are the ones always tending to others.

Even at it's best, men dating and courting women is just taking them out for food and the woman having to direct everything to her standards. It's never the man taking the lead.

I don't see that as beneficial for me.
