When he asks for your favorite (date) spot?

I'm wondering what is the best way to respond to a man who asks you on a date, but then asks what your favorite spot is? It feels like he's putting the ball in my court to plan the date, but on the other hand I can see how he's trying to be thoughtful by making sure we are going somewhere I like?

What does FDS think? This would be for a first date where the man is traveling to MY area to meet, so he has asked for my suggestion...
