Unexpected date tonight, Thanks to a random Ad!

Hey guys, so I was completely off the dating scene after my last experience (needed a break from the rollercoaster!) BUT…

Today, I saw an ad pop up for a site called Mate Machine, claiming it’s for “serious, intelligent singles over 30 looking for real connections.” I figured, why not? I checked out some profiles, and there were actually some great-looking people in my age range!

So, on a total whim, I signed up, and within 20 minutes, I was chatting with this charming Australian guy who just moved to my area! We hit it off right away and have been laughing about everything.

We even set up a date tonight at a cozy local Italian spot for some spaghetti bolognese (my fave)! He’s been calling me “darling,” which I think is standard for Aussies? Any Aussies here to confirm? Either way, I find it kinda cute.

Meeting him in a couple of hours! Excited but also nervous—who knows how it’ll go, but here’s hoping! 😅

Good catch. I thought this post sounded like some kind ad. And the way the engagement ring post was written was suspicius too. Both are too generic and contained too little skepticism regarding scrotery. Clearly a troll.

I lived in Aus for two years...

Be very careful with these guys. They are stuck in 1950s American thinking with how they treat women. Misogyny doesn't even begin to describe what I saw there. Yes, it is worse than what we experience today in the states.

Unfortunately for us, they are also very hot, witty, and charming. 🤣 Just be careful, take no shit, and don't let the charm fool you. If he starts fucking you around call him "mate" or a "bogan" and tell him to f off. They will have decent table manners, but they generally treat women like absolute shit.

It always blew my mind when I saw them treating some of the most beautiful women I've ever seen in real life like total dirt...

Also, don't have drinks. You will end up more drunk than you've ever been in your life and this guy won't even feel the hangover tomorrow, meanwhile you will be half dead. They are seasoned drinkers beyond belief.

Lastly, chlamydia is a very normal thing for Aussies to experience and spread, so do not get sexual with this one early on.

Editing to add: it's not normal for them to call someone "darling" right away unless they are trying to swoon them into bed. They are funny as hell, but they generally view women as wet holes that they will pump and dump. They don't tend to get serious about women at all. I watched my Ozzie girlfriends there (I was engaged to and living there with my American fiance at the time) go through things even American pickmes wouldn't consider for a second and I watched these girls (and all of their friends group and male friends) go through round after round of contracting chlamydia. I guess it is normal there, which was hard to wrap my head around.

My brother was stationed there in the Navy for a short while, and they had two days to explore. Their Sargeant told them to use a condom because "they will contract things they cannot name and will never be able to cure."

I'd really vet this dude more before you meet up with him in such a short time. He's viewing you as easy pickings. I'd make the first date a stop at an STD clinic for testing.

Jesus fucking Christ. This is eye-opening. I heard the misogyny was kind of bad over there, but not this level. The heavy drinking + 1950s-style misogyny reminds me of Russian men.

Ohhhhh, so many. LOL. The best men I met there were immigrants from war torn countries (when they were still letting them in at the time, Tony Abbott stopped that part way through my living there), not Ozzie men.

They are angry at Americans. They will get too drunk and then spout off a bunch of bullshit abt our politics (like I made the laws) and then they will literally shed tears about the fact that they gave up their guns and we didn't. They have issues with all of that shit and they make you their sounding board for it. They can be angry drunks in general and they both HATE and love Americans at the same time, every time, so you never knew what you were going to get. Usually both, spilling out about how awesome we are and then flipping to angry drunk about what shit we are...

They sleep around. A lottttttt. They never cared who they slept with and most of the time they were so blackout drunk they didn't even remember who she was.

The day I moved in (I was alone at the house, my fiance was at work), one of the movers showed up drunk at 7 am and they all fist fought about it and knocked a whole in our wall. It was a fitting intro to males there.

Lots of testosterone, lots of sleeping around, lots of making women dance around them for their attention (which they still never gave them in the end), which I will nevvvvverrrr be able to understand because they have the most unreal beautiful girls there. I felt like these poor women were metaphorically locked up in cages or something.

My girlfriend's boyfriend tried to sleep with me while she ran into a house really quickly to use the bathroom. I think it was her birthday party or birthday weekend???

They want to live here or at least see it, so I wouldn't put wanting a green card past any of them.

I don't think I ever ONCE saw a man treat his girl like a girlfriend. They treat their partners like buddies and then they sleep with their friends.

They are hot and super super fun (like Ozzie women are), but don't let that bullshit fool you. I don't think they could ever treat a woman well. Ever. Never. Lololol. Everrr. They only care about sports (way more than we do) ans drinking. They do not care about women, but will certainly sleep with all of them. When I hear Ozzie accents from a man in the states I almost duck and cover. They are best to look at from afar.

Editing to add: I think because they are a younger country, they are behind us by about 50-70 years in some things, and their treatment of women is one of them. The ways they acted felt ollllld school.

Oh one more edit! My girlfriend slept with a dude and he immediately threw CHANGE at her for an Uber home and basically told her to gtfo immediately. LOL. I forgot about that!
