I have noticed a pattern... Whenever I tell men I'm dating or boyfriends that I am getting or got a pedicure or a massage they seem to get annoyed about it & never have anything good to say. I actually stopped telling them about getting massages because I've noticed it always elicits the same reaction from every single man. Are they jealous that I'm able to afford the self care? Do they feel that my time should be spent catering to them? I don't get it

i would double down and do nothing but talk about how glorious my full-body, 2-hour long massages are.
Jealous that you can afford it, feel bad about themselves that they couldn't afford to do those things for you/with you, trying to bring you down to make you value yourself less/make you feel like you don't deserve it, possessive about the idea of another human touching you or seeing you naked, maybe even some weird homophobic thing where they feel like they have to shit on any and all self care to appear manly. Probably like 10 other possibilities.
In any case definitely a good test if someone is a HVM or not. I was never into massages or manicures or anything like that - my boyfriend got me into it. And even things he's not into, like my plethora of skincare stuff, he doesn't shit on, he appreciates the effort I put into myself.
I'm not sure if I'm just being negative/pessimist but I always find it's those men think women don't deserve good things until they prove it in ways such as: catering to the men, having their baybeezz if they think only mothers deserve it "once in a blue moon", even though they treat single mothers and mothers in general terribly, or the woman has to go through hell hoops to earn it. They especially hate it if a single woman is able to afford self-care. If a man told me he got a self-care day I'd be happy for them, self-care is good/positive/healing. They are not happy for us.
LVM will call it diva or princess behaviour, let them, they are telling on themselves. With that attitude towards self-care and cleanliness they are probably the ones walking around with skid marks in their underwear.
They don’t want you to be happy. Plain and simple. Similar situation- the guy I used to date would get annoyed when I told him I had a day off work because it was a federal holiday.. like why are you annoyed that I’m getting paid to stay home?
If he hates the idea of you having basic self care or pampering yourself then he’s misogynistic and is too dusty/broke to treat you. Let him weed himself out, this is a good vetting tool
A high value man should encourage and enable women's self care.
Most men have no concept of money. They spend thousands on porn and video games each year, but cannot fathom spending even $50 on a massage (unless it comes with a happy ending, of course). So they think you are being frivolous, even though you are probably much more financially responsible than them. A lot of them also have drinking problems, and will go through cases of beer each week, spending hundreds of dollars- but if you want to indulge in a gourmet coffee once a week? Well, they would never do that! Why would you?
I don't change my behavior for men. I'd 100% double down and let them continue to weed themselves out. They're doing me a favor.
I think that some men feel cheated or swindled somehow when I tell them I regularly do my eyebrows at a salon, get facials, massages, chiropractic appointments, waxing, and have a personal trainer, (and sometimes Botox🤫). Like they expect my look to be effortless and free 😂 And when they figure out it’s a lot of time invested and money, they are offended? It’s weird.
They might whine to you directly, but they would secretly disrespect you and resent you if you didn't take care of yourself and were always available for him in your free time.
My "prescription:" keep doing it, but double. Let them weed themselves out.
Yes exactly they get sooo jealous! One NVM I used to date even said 'I'm jealous' when I said I was at the spa! He also ended up being broke and dusty so was probably jealous I wasn't inviting him or that he wasn't able to afford a spa day for himself. They really want to suck women's resources dry! When really they need to stop chasing all the wrong things and focus on leveling their own life up and getting to their own bag!
Ma'am these are the same men who don't wash their asses. They can't, or won't, do the slightest bit of hygiene or grooming that you will do because they're less than you, full stop. They may be jealous, of course, but they also are mad that you're spending your time on yourself and not them. Get rid of them.
They don’t want to have to be responsible for providing for those self care things. They are stingy.
