I have been watching the Lorena Bobbitt documentary and it's been crazy revisiting the details for this case through FDS eyes. I actually remember this casehappening quite vividly. One, because I was a senior in high school in 1993, when this happened. I remember how explosive it was when it first happened. Two, I grew up in Northern Virginia. This happened in Manassas VA when I was living in Alexandria, VA at the time. So it was even MORE huge that it was happening nearby.
But revisiting the facts of this case through FDS eyes is soul altering. It is the quintessential he said/she said case where men are pitted against the women. Men are furious a woman cut off their most prized appendage and wanted her life for that. Her husband gets acquitted of domestic violence charges against her, which is what drove her to cut off his penis in the first place. Then she goes on trial after that for malicious wounding. The judge only allowed the jury to consider the facts of the case from 5 days before the incident, which prevented the defense from being able to show the years of abuse she suffered that culminated in her cutting his penis off.
It's wild watching it with FDS eyes.
You guys should really check out this documentary!
This serves as yet another reminder to avoid military men.
