Ladies, What Do You Make of This? Boundary Weirdness or Bad Joke?

Yesss, I definitely got the vibe he was expecting me to laugh since men are so used to women coddling them. I said nothing! 😂 It wasn't funny. I think we need to slowly stop laughing at unfunny jokes and make men feel awkward when they're being inappropriate. Their entitlement is off the charts by now because women have been forced to laugh nervously to prevent awkwardness/soften a blow to their ego. So they're not used to sitting in awkward silence when no one laughs.

Plus research indicates men find women funny when women laugh at *their* (the men's) jokes...as opposed to women finding men funny when men actually make them laugh. The self-absorbed entitlement is maddening. No wonder funny women aren't appreciated, and I have yet to meet a man who's funnier than other women I know/myself...partially because they've never had accurate feedback as to what's funny or not.

Yesss, I think that's why it was off-putting. There was no need to joke around, especially since women have safety issues with this kinda stuff. They also show pictures of the drivers and he seems like one of those types that may be "used to" getting female attention. Maybe his ego got bruised that I wanted him to leave it at the door and was expecting whoever he delivered to want to meet him LOL. I have no idea, just a theory. He just rang my doorbell and I am waiting a few minutes before I check if he left the order to make sure he's gone before I check. Also...any time I have had to meet my driver at the door and they didn't follow the directions, they were always prone to staring at me with "interest" and lingering as I took my order with no real justification so it makes sense why I'd be wary of meeting people. I guess that makes me even more "alert".

i experience weirdness with scrotes that i NEVER experience with women every time i work. men will get too close, stare, stand in my personal space for too long, make weird, unsolicited comments about themselves and their experiences...it's like, READ THE FUCKING ROOM. 90% of them have zero social cues.

Agreed. I almost felt like I was suddenly on a dating app tolerating multiple unsolicited texts from someone I didn't want to talk to vs. an app meant to communicate about my food delivery especially with all those emojis. 😂 It was unnerving.

Right?! I just found it so odd. The way he kept going in real time to get some reaction out of a stranger he doesn't know was also odd. I am still learning to trust my gut because I know I can rationalize myself out of it sometimes, especially since there's a lot of things society already tries to rationalize everything about men and tells us we're being too sensitive about. But every time I've felt something "off" about someone I have turned out to be right so I try not to dismiss it anymore. 😓

Exactly! It didn't make much sense to me and could be read as either snarky/condescending vs. lighthearted. So it was odd he would take the risk in making that joke to a customer. But I feel like he's one of those dudes who's used to saying whatever he wants and getting away with it by masking it as a joke.

Thank you! I feel a lot more validated knowing other women have a similar reaction to this because I was a bit uncertain whether I was just taking it too seriously. But reading everyone's replies, I am reminded there's often a reason why women feel creeped out. Reminds me of "The Gift of Fear" book - trust your intuition.

Yess I definitely feel like this could be part of his motive. And I happily give big tips and good ratings to dashers who go out of their way to be kind, wishing me a good day, etc, are bringing bigger deliveries or put effort into making sure delivery is on time. But this whole interaction was definitely not it for me. Just made me uncomfortable. Reminds me of drivers who start inappropriate/intrusive/long conversations with women who would prefer not to/don't want anything beyond maybe some polite small talk on their drive.

Haha yep! I didn't reply but I did put on a realistic YouTube video of "men talking" at a loud volume until I was sure he was gone. 🤣
