I have been observing my interactions with humans lately, and I am more and more impressed with Us Women.
A few personal examples (feel free to share your own!):
I love how supportive and encouraging this forum is. I can't count the number of times I've seen us thank each other, cheer each other on, and teach each other. It's beautiful
Two women went out of their way to be kind to me in the past 3 days: one, a flight attendant gave me a first class care kit because she thought I was "so sympathetic" (I just told her she looks like Cate Blanchett, she was beautiful); the other gave me a free bottle of wine after I bought a bunch of her lovely wild boar prosciutto & pecorino (I'm in Italy this week), she did NOT have to do this!
I've watched women patiently comfort babies on planes, help with heavy bags, and give way to vulnerable people in line
I love that women are getting praise and kudos: Greta Gerwig, America Ferrara, Taylor Swift, Tracy Chapman. There are so many more, these are just recent and famous women. It feels good to celebrate women lately. Like "yeah. It's Time. We are amazing."
I travelled in December and met so many wonderful women on that trip. Their husbands were LVM (except for 1, he was decent), but those women were smart, kind, beautiful, and fun. Each had her own way of caring (some tipped generously, others said encouraging words, others made sure no one was excluded), and all were lovely people. (Ok there was one woman who was mean but we all avoided her, lol).
On that same trip, the women workers were the hardest working and kindest. I know they're just doing their job putting up with us, but we ladies tried to give very little trouble and express gratutide.
My mom - who is not great in many ways - really stepped up for my sister recently: she wrote a moving letter advocating for my sister. Her letter brought me to tears. I was glad to see her exert herself on my sister's behalf, with emotional intelligence and love
Freaking Melanie Hamlett on You Tube is so fun and cool! Check her out
Max Dashu is doing a course on Reclaiming Matrix Cultures (female led and female honoring) and I love it
Someone here shared Elizabeth Gilbert's video The Feminine Divine and it was great! Go watch it if you have 30 minutes
My 50+ Solo Women Traveler FB group - adventurous and inspiring and every post is helpful and caring. So many scared and discouraged women asking for help, maybe just out of a tough breakup, or have never done anything for themselves - the group holds them up, and encourages them that they'll make it, they deserve to care for themselves, and they don't have to be afraid. When women band together, we make the world a better place for all of us. And we have fun.
You. You! Every day, here, helping each other
Anyhoo, these are small things, but they add up. And I am seeing progress more than darkness lately.
Yep there are scrotes and losers a plenty: but we women have Us. We're smart, kind and funny. And we're unstoppable.
This is something I've noticed myself. Most people I have beef with (or bad experiences in general) are scrotes who just woke up one day and decided to be assholes. Like for example there were a few underclassmen who vaped right next to my locker, and now are lowkey harrassing me because I snitched on them to a teacher and surveillance was increased in that area. Sorry boys but I don't feel like inhaling whatever you're rotting your brain with everytime I go to retrieve my stuff. On the other hand even if I don't have any friends in my college and I'm socially awkward, the girls are still super nice, kind and don't complain when I'm forced into a group with them during projects. A lot of them make me feel included and comfortable despite me coming across as reserved. This whole "omg women gossip and shit on each other all the time"-stereotype doesn't really make sense to me, unless we're talking about early teens and not adult women. At least speaking from my experience. Plus this might seem shallow but they're all so pretty!! Like straight up most women I simply walk by on the street look gorgerous, meanwhile most men look unkept and lazy in comparison.
yep recently went to a concert by myself and so many women went out of their ways to make me feel welcomed and supported!!
