How come some single women who are in poverty are "forced" to marry or go into prostitution, but single men don't have to?

I've noticed that when a woman is single and on the verge of becoming homeless, she sometimes resorts to sex work or is forced to marry. But when men are in the same financial distress, no one suggests that they start becoming male prostitutes or get married. Why is it always on the women to sex themselves up when in dire straits, but men don't have to do any of this? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I can't help but notice this.
