Although I am not a big fan of Jordan Peterson, I really like his guest and her explanation of the birth of gender identity. Where she explains how Dr. Money, got the opportunity to do a the first and only, study on gender identity, due to an accidental botched circumcision on identical twin boys.
Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Dr. Miriam Grossman walk us through the horrific yet true story behind the Reimer twins. The atrocity of their upbringing, branded as a successful experiment by Dr. John Money, was used as the bedrock of gender and identity ideology that has captured the western world today.
This is such a sad story that I don’t think is shared often enough. I heard some of John Money’s theories in college presented as “settled science”
but was never told who they came from.
Have you heard of the book Irreversible Damage by Abigail Shrier? The author tries to find out why gender transition surgery has become such a popular trend amongst young girls especially.
Thank you for sharing this. What I've been hearing about these 'reassignment' surgeries and castrations - it's basically modern day genital mutilation. This video was utterly heartbreaking to watch. I'm not a fan of JP at all, and I'm also saddened that a lot of these so called 'allies' for actual biology, are often far-right positioned, often misogynists, that I do not wish to be associated with. It's difficult to reconcile. And it feels like sometimes they're just getting on some train for the sake of it. For example, some of the interviews I've heard with Sall Grover (from the Giggle case), the men interviewing her are not what I would call 'good men'. Anyway - This 'experiment' was criminal! And Dr. Money's attitude, from how it was described and also judging from his behaviour, was sadly not uncommon in today's medical field. Arrogance, tyranny, and disregard for patients. This story breaks my heart, and is enlightening on how this thinking found its way into the mainstream. HE worked at Johns Hopkins For G-ds sake!
I haven't watched the video but if you want a good podcast that focuses on gender ideology, I recommend Isabella Malbin's 'Whose Body Is It'. I don't agree with everything she says but her takes on it is really good.
