This post is inspired by the new Wicked movie. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo keep breaking down in tears and looking noticeably thinner during interviews for the film, so I got curious and decided to dig into what’s going on.
I found that the film's director, Jon M. Chu, welcomed his 5th child on the night of the movie's premiere.
According to reports:
"Chu and his wife have four other children: Willow, 7; Jonathan, 5; Ruby, 3; and Iggy, 20 months—the latter born during the production of Wicked."*
So essentially, Chu, at 45 years old, has been impregnating his wife approximately every 11 months for the past 7 years. One child was born during the production of Wicked, and another on the night of the premiere. This suggests Chu is rarely home, leaving his wife to handle most of the pregnancy and childcare on her own.
Sure, he’s rich, but five kids in seven years? That’s crazy. Pregnancy takes a huge toll on a woman, both physically and emotionally. Given the age gap (he looks much older than his wife), it almost feels like he’s afraid she might leave him. Is he intentionally keeping her preoccupied with constant pregnancies and childcare so she doesn’t have the time or energy to focus on anything else?
What do you think?
It’s possible. But we don’t know anything about their relationship.
To me 5 kids is too many. No one needs that much. But some women love being pregnant and having baby after baby.
They’re also wealthy so I doubt she’s looking after them alone. She likely has several nanny’s to help if her husband is always away or they travel as a family with nanny’s coming along.
They’re not like us. We can’t understand the type of help they get. They likely have maids, personal chefs, personal assistants etc. it’s easier for them to have a big family.
Out of curiosity I looked up the wife and saw she was 36 when she had her first child with him. So I think they’re a similar age.
