so when i'm out i sometimes see a man i find attractive which is really really rare. usually he would be with friends/other man/men. I have a problem where i will anxious and avoid people. Like today, I was at a public space waiting and walked away from him to the other side. If we're just strangers, what can I do (obviously i know now to not walk away)? eye contact?

it's your life and you can do whatever you want with it. but if you want a quality partner, you need to be careful.
first thing you can do is remind yourself men don't usually respect women who take initiative.
second thing you can do is work on your anxiety. i don't know how much it limits your life, if it is an actual disorder or just healthy, normal anxiety that happens depending on the situation. regardless of what exactly it is, therapy might help.
third thing you can do is decenter men and level up. if a man approaches you, vet him to death and decide if you want to take the risk of letting him into your life. if a man never approaches you, enjoy your life safe from the dangers of hetero relationships. if you are interested in a man, i think eye contact is a subtle way to show interest. but don't approach him because of the first thing on this list.
being an independent woman who take initiative is nice and all, but it isn't beneficial for us in the dating realm. keep in mind you are the one who chooses because you are the one with the most to loose.
Whenever I've taken initiative and shown interest in a man it's it's always been an epic failure for a multitude of reasons. Never approach a man or show interest in a man first. You're a queen. Make them kiss the ring.
I agree with the others: Decenter men and vet vet vet.
In this situation, if you want him to approach, make eye contact with him, then quickly look away when he looks at you. Do this 2 or three times. If he’s interested, he will approach you.
Works like a charm.
I'd be extremely careful with perfect strangers if I were you. You don't know anything about him! He can have a girlfriend, wife and kids or, I dunno, a dozen side chicks. He could also be dangerous but you wouldn't know it because you haven't even spoken to him. I wouldn't approach a strange man alone in a setup like that, with no mutual friends or acquaintances to vouch for him.
You can always admire those kinda guys from a distance if they catch your eye and that's it.
Talk to him
