I just lurked on the subreddit and upvoted stuff but never actually posted myself because I didn't want to get swamped with abuse. Now that it's migrated away from reddit I feel like I can actually interact here.

I've been attacked whenever I leave the most benign comment or even just agree with something. They really are the worst and just want to wear us down. They probably see the move as a win but I see the move from Reddit as a fantastic FDS boundary setting. Block and Delete abusers.

True!! Whenever I post a comment in a different community, they will start saying on ofc she is FDS lol. It bothers them but it makes me more proud. If some people don’t like you, you know you are doing something right.

I was just thinking this a few minutes ago. It's so irritating how people abused the downvote system just because their feelings got hurt. And yes, even FDSers would do this (I saw one woman praise how hard mothers and SAHMs work- and she was NOT bashing working women in the slightest- and people downvoted her into the negatives, for no reason). Even completely neutral statements like "I love that color!" will get downvoted on any sub. It's become a systemic way to bully people for presenting a take outside the echo chamber. I got downvoted to the -50s on showerthoughts for having an unpopular opinion on a popular tv family being compared to another tv fam, even though I was very respectful and tried to be thoughtful about what I said because people in that particular fandom tend to really over-identify with those fictional characters. They didn't care. They just cared that I was saying something they didn't like hearing. I expect this behavior from teens, not sensible adults. And yes, it bothered me a lot. I really enjoyed discussions about fiction and getting basically punished for something I wasn't aware I was doing wrong did sting. It's just a way to make people feel alienated and Othered on a site already skilled at bullying and harassing people without cause. Having ONLY the Like option really symbolizes what FDS should be about: uplifting each other.

I was regularly deleting all of my comments from my reddit account every 2-4 weeks. This was after I had to scrub my original account and retire it, because of an unhinged NVM ex. Now I don't have to, no more fear. It's refreshing.

I definitely agree with you. I think this forum is so much better. We can give sensible advice freely and without being downvoted into oblivion

I am 90% sure I had people stalking my profile because every single comment I made would get downvotes within a few minutes during the day.
