I can appreciate her as a superstar and a lyricist with many catchy songs. My ex had two different Taylor Swift related tattoos and has been obsessed with her since high school. I asked him about this and he said he was a broken hearted high School boy and I guess her song came on the radio and changed his life. Look, I'm not half as talented as taylor, but literally all of her songs are about men leaving her or treating her poorly. I don't see how men can even relate to these songs unless they dream about a woman who would crawl through broken glass just to be with them. Of course, when they have that sort of woman they can't get away fast enough or won't commit (pick mes)..
My ex would listen to literally every single Taylor Swift song, not even just the popular ones. And I get it, she's so catchy and I loved midnights. When I put her Christmas songs on my TV while we decorated the tree, he was absolutely glued to the screen.
I'm wondering are male Swifties a huge red flag? I feel like it's such female music how can they possibly relate? I've known two low value men obsessed with Taylor Swift. I know my ex wasn't faking it because you don't get a tattoo over something you're not truly obsessed with.
Thoughts?
It's a red flag for me because male Swifties always give me 💅🏳️🌈 vibes.
God no … any man who is obsessed with anything is a 🚩
I’ve never met a man obsessed with Taylor swift. Had no idea they existed! 😂
Being obsessed with anything is a red flag for anyone, I think. So yeah I’d say this is a red flag in men.
For all the reasons given by the other commenters, yes, it is a red flag.
I'm going to go against the FDS grain and say it's a red flag when a man is a "huge" fan of any female singer or band with a female lead. Chances are, it's code for he wants to fuck her. Men will almost always sexualize female artists they admire, no matter how much they "love her music".
I'm curious what other people say because I knew a guy like this as well and for many completely unrelated reasons he was a sentient walking red flag but I realize that's anecdotal experience with 1 man.
I'd agree that the romanticization of the "struggle love" concept in her music would be a red flag for me. As well as if I could tell his obsession with her was sexual in any way...? I'm brainstorming now.
It’s pretty weird. Not to mention that Taylor Swift is really popular with white supremacist scrotes. For some reason, they see her as white conservative femininity personified, and are all unhealthily obsessed with when she’s gonna settle down and make white babies.
Yes, they like her because she makes their peepees hard.
Obsessions and getting Tattoos of them are weird.
All her songs aren't about men, she has a lot of songs about many different topics, i really hate this narrative and it reduces her songwriting. For me men who hate taylor swift are a bigger red flag and i dont just mean they arent into her music, i mean men who hate her and say shit like she has no talent or shes boring, snarky comments like that. I don't necessarily think its a red flag a man being a fan of her, my dad is even a fan of her music, but anyone who is obsessed on unhealthy levels are red flag no matter who they are.
Him staring at the screen and getting the tattoos are the problem. Loving an artist is fine, but it seems him being that into her is creepy and sexual.
The tattoos make it weird.
My thoughts: He gives you the same vibes as those "male feminists" that turn out to be complete pervs. Men who go near feminine things like Taylor Swift, zodiac signs, Wiccan etc are 99% of the time predators who are going ti the "watering hole" so to speak to meet new prey
Ive met one man that was a huge swiftie and he was kind of weird.
I find the people that hate TS with a burning passion hate her because of how outspoken she's been about pay gap AND how a lot of her songs are blatantly about her dating/exes. Men hate when women get famous and money singing about their experiences with men.
Funny enough I saw a thread on reddit of a woman that was upset her photographer(?) bf didn't want to help her film a music video she was writing about her experiences with an ex. Sure he can have boundaries but most of the comments were crapping on her for writing such songs.
Again, men don't like when women make bank off their real life negative experiences with their exes. But they like to listen to rap where they always rap about screwing every woman, drugs and being players lol ok.
Yes I know a rapist who blasted Taylor Swift music in his dorm
she's a cool young gamine Marilyn Monroe. a sex symbol is a sex symbol.
