No jews, no news.

I feel like the bacha bazi thing is an aspect of it. Men there don't see women as human, they'd rather molest young boys. It was a cultural issue way before Islam. Looking at Iran, women held so much more freedom before the fall of the Shah. Iranian men here are some of the most liberal, too. It seems that misogyny is really ingrained in these scrotes. I have never met an Afghan man though, the women I have met are beautiful and accomplished but they fled the country, what's left is the hardcore rural/tribal class. Again I wish I understood it better. Unlike Iran/Persia the region is not known for its science so probably a mix of uneducated scrotery/misogyny using Islam as a tool to hurt women.

Why leave? Should've destroyed the Taliban.

That would be like trying to destroy any Christian fundamentalist group in the US. In any place where a lot of people are very religious, even if you destroy one group, another will form to take its place.

Interestingly, there was a period of time when Afghanistan was under communist rule. It was brutal in its own way, and the religious groups were taking a lot of losses. Especially when the then communist Afghan government got the USSR to help them deal with the religious groups trying to overthrow them.

Then super religious American Christians persuaded their government to get in there and help out the religious Afghans, because the atheist communists were their common enemy.

Yeah, I nearly fell over when I saw that part in the BBC documentary Afghanistan: the Great Game. If only those Americans knew their intervention would lead to the creation of the Taliban!
